Esta novena edición de  Canela En Surco es un homenaje a toda la gente que ha tenido y tiene RADIOS PIRATAS a lo largo y ancho del planeta; por eso hemos decidido empezar una nueva serie de colaboraciones de artistas, diggers, etc,.. con la presencia en el programa de DAVID M, la persona más rápida mezclando discos y haciendo radio que hay en todo el país. Hay diferentes clases de poder y a cada uno le hemos dedicado un The Shelter. Está el poder de arriba, el de la corrupción política, la Iglesia, los Bancos y toda esa mierda. Luego está el poder de los “bajos fondos”: nacido en las calles, en el ghetto, con sus propias reglas, su propia justicia. Power is Vice Part III está inspirado en Gangs(Stars), los que manejan la vida en la calle, fuera del sistema y de la “ley”. Un poder hecho en la calle y un modo de vida antiestablishment, más por necesidad que por convicción. La ley del más fuerte.  Esto es Power is Vice Part III:Gangstars (Ghetto Highlites).

Electronic soul started this weeks show with the voiceless, late night vibes from the forthcoming Simple EP on Apollo before Lapalux and Kaytranda threw down some lovely vocals over deeper than deep beats. Sweatson Klank then turned the airwaves blue with the single from his forthcoming EP on Project Mooncircle before Teleseen dropped the deep, underground tropical flavour from his new LP due out soon on 100% Silk which has been on repeat recently. Next up was the return of a little Portico Quartet/SBTRK action  before Nosaj Thing ably demonstrated, as did DJ Rashad last week that just because a song is 160BPM doesn’t mean it can’t have soul. Really happy this week to start the show with some brand new Bilal and to announce he has signed to the good old boys at BBE Records for his new album due out in March and if the first single is anything to go by then we are all in for a big treat. Next up was some jazz from a fantastic new compilation on Heavenly Sweetness who have managed to unearth some incredible, forgotten, jazz gems from various dusty French vaults. BJ Smith then provided a stellar version of the Mos Def classic, “Umi Says” which led nicely into a modern day French future underground classic with the debut single fromThe Mardo Bump Society and for sure it’s got the Bump. So after a bit of a hiatus in the radio show at the end of the year we are glad to be back and spreading the musical word again. Azymuth got the show off to a fine fusion start with a track from the reissue of their classic album Light As A Feather which amazingly sold 500,000 copies in 1979 and spent 8 weeks in the UK top 20. The reissue will probably sell about 500 and the thought of its jazz fusion joys entering the UK mainstream charts are laughable, how times change. Greg Foat then carried on the jazz fusion vibe with a track from their great new album dropping round about now on Jazzman records. The first great discovery of 2013 has arrived in the shape of Lycoriscoris a young Japanese producer with a great debut album of deep electronica with some soothing jazz flavours and a great listen start to finish.
