Audio Texture Radio Show – February 17, 2014

A nice mish mash of styles this week which all seemed to segue together quite pleasingly kicking off with some sunshine jazz funk vibes from Brazil, courtesy of MUV before Aisha Mars supplied some deep, instrumental, soul music from the great Bamalovesoul compiled On Deck 2 from the BBE crew, a great little collection of fresh nu-soul flavours, mostly from artists I’ve never heard of, which makes it even better. Blludd Relations then dubbed up the Owiny Sigoma Band to good effect which led nicely into Jameszoo‘s unrecognisable remix of the great Awanto 3‘s Afro house banger, “Su What? which we previewed on last weeks show. Audio Texture Radio Show – January 13, 2014

So the radio show is back for 2014 after a bit of a hard drive meltdown near the end of last year and just the fact that, well, sometimes a  break is sometimes welcome. The show kicked off on a nice jazz tip with a killer version of The Jackson Sisters’ “I Believe in Miracles” from Eddie Roberts which took the original in a great new direction as a good cover version should do. Pugs Atomz the dropped some great funky hip hop vibes from their great new, stylistically diverse album, Bama Pi. Andrew Ashong then kept things simple but soulfully effective with “Special” before Zara McFarlane waded in with another killer cover version, this time of Junior Murvin’s (not Dennis Brown’s – as erroneously stated in the show in a moment of madness) “Police and Thieves” she really is a talent and a half. Audio Texture Radio Show – June 24, 2013

So back from the holiday and back into musical action once more kicking off this week with some of that new/old soul business belted out by the powerful voice of Marta Ren. Debruit then laid down the summer hip hop vibes recorded with Shamon Cassette whilst he was in New York, which led nicely into the ever impressive Homeboy Sandman riding a twisted, yet compulsive break. We were then happy to finally share a track from the forthcoming TG Mauss album which we’ve been sitting on and enjoying for the last few weeks, check it when it drops on the ever interesting Karaoke Kalk in July. Audio Texture Radio Show – April 8, 2013

Quite a soulful vibe this week, kicking off with one of two tracks in the show from Omarand his wonderful remake of his 1990 classic “There’s Nothing Like This” taken from his new EP The Man which is boding very well indeed for the album. A sensitive Taylor McFerrin remix of “Come To My Door” from Jose James then followed before a hatrick of modern soul classics was completed by Sweatson Klank‘s “Morning After Pills” from his, now available, album on Project Mooncircle. Jazz was then the order of the day with the opening track from Kevin Beadle‘s stellar compilation, Private Collection, out on BBE Records. Read more…

Audio Texture Radio Show – February 25, 2012

Sublime deep house kicked off this weeks show courtesy of Isolee and the “Allowance” title track from their new EP which led nicely into the Max Sedgeley like tones of Inch-time and “Time Of The Fire” before Mara TK hit us with some spiritual vibes from way down or New Zealand to be precise. Neve Naive then kept the vibes deep but with a dark undertone before the sugary soul of Inc. cut in with “Angel” the highlight of their pleasant new album on 4AD.
