Audio Texture Radio Show – May 19, 2014

A nice Brazilian start to this weeks show kicking off with two tracks from the new Gilles Peterson produced project Sonzeira, crack musicians, great tune selection, no filler, go get it. 

Sandalia de Prata then chipped in with some feelgood samba soul from the greatSambossica compilation #4, available from Afrobaile records. Daniel Crawford was next up with a tune from his well executed cut and paste Fela Kuti tribute mixtape beforeThe Elder Statesman smoothed things out with some great mellow jazz vibes from their double A side new 7″ on Bastard Jazz. Smooth soul from another new Bandcamp discovery, Jordan Rakei, then followed and further highlighted how much great new soul music is coming out of Australia at the moment.

Fatima was next up, equally as soulful but with adarker undertone and if you needed any further encouragement to check her new album then «Talk» should have done the job.Sean Pineiro then made his second appearance in as many weeks on the show but this time with some assistance from a very nice Daisuke Tanabe remix. By the time you are reading this the Quasi Dub Development will finally be out after we’ve been teasing you with a number of tracks over the previous weeks and it’s probably going to be the dub album of the year, go check.

Next up weretwo beat makers with depth and a sense of adventure, kicking off with two conjoined Psymun tracks the otherworldly spacescape, «Cold In Here» which merged with the more traditional hip hop beats of «Kool Aid«. We then headed back into more abstract beat territory with a teaser for the new Olof Melander album, forthcoming onProject Mooncircle, trust us the albu is goo. Throwback boogie sounds then upped the tempo with Reggie B providing the vocals on Inkswel’s, «So Over It» from the welcome digital release program of the Hot Shot Sound‘s catalogue. The shouty M.A. BEAT! then provided some warm, wobbly electronica which led nicely into Lone’s, balearically charged, «Aurora Northern Quarter«. Mombi then kept the vibes deep and meaningful before 4AM finished the show in upbeat, leftfield UK Garage style.
