Audio Texture Radio Show – January 27, 2014

Another deep jazz cut from Yatha Bhuta Jazz Combo then stirred the show from its slumber and paved the way fro Titts‘ chopped and screwed bassline vibes, which led nicely into some submerged soul from Actress, closely followed by quality beats from Barcelona based Fitzroy North, snagged from his soon to come EP on Tiburoni.

Audio Texture Radio Show – January 13, 2014

So the radio show is back for 2014 after a bit of a hard drive meltdown near the end of last year and just the fact that, well, sometimes a  break is sometimes welcome. The show kicked off on a nice jazz tip with a killer version of The Jackson Sisters’ «I Believe in Miracles» from Eddie Roberts which took the original in a great new direction as a good cover version should do. Pugs Atomz the dropped some great funky hip hop vibes from their great new, stylistically diverse album, Bama Pi. Andrew Ashong then kept things simple but soulfully effective with «Special» before Zara McFarlane waded in with another killer cover version, this time of Junior Murvin’s (not Dennis Brown’s – as erroneously stated in the show in a moment of madness) «Police and Thieves» she really is a talent and a half.

Audio Texture Radio Show – July 6, 2013

All over the shop this week kicking off with East of England based Hoofus and a taste of his peculiar musical madness closely followed by Jameszoo and his chopped, twisted and then retwisted blend of jazz and MPC prowess. Myron & E then provided the traditional soul vibes from their great new album on Stonesthrow before Cavern of Anti-Matter laid down the soundtrack to dystopian future, some would say present. Dirg Gerner then treated us to some of his distinctive vocal beat arrangements to announce the release of his new EP on Eglo and what should be the start of a healthy career.

Audio Texture Radio Show – March 4, 2013

There was a deep and slightly more experimental flavour to this weeks show kicking off with the most melodic offering from the new Tangent album which led nicely into a taster of the new J’s Bee album which truly is a thing of wonder. They are a ten piece Japanese group, mixing up the styles to lush effect before the Ambient Jazz Ensemble took up the cinematic mantle and ran full steam ahead with it. Letherette then changed the musical course with some future boogie beats, closely followed by more of the same from hot young Belgian talent Pomrad just about to release his EP on the ever interesting Earnest Endeavours label. Sweatson Klank then provided some thinking man’s hip hop before Khing Kang King took the «thinking man’s hip hop» tag to the next level and beyond.

Audio Texture Radio Show – February 11, 2013

Really happy this week to start the show with some brand new Bilal and to announce he has signed to the good old boys at BBE Records for his new album due out in March and if the first single is anything to go by then we are all in for a big treat. Next up was some jazz from a fantastic new compilation on Heavenly Sweetness who have managed to unearth some incredible, forgotten, jazz gems from various dusty French vaults. BJ Smith then provided a stellar version of the Mos Def classic, «Umi Says» which led nicely into a modern day French future underground classic with the debut single fromThe Mardo Bump Society and for sure it’s got the Bump.

Fauni Gena
