El jueves 11 de Diciembre a medianoche el equipo de Middleground presenta una nueva fiesta en The BUS Music Club (Sala Razzmatazz): LA TRAP JAUS!

This week we return to the constantly shifting frontiers of bass and grime as we feature a heavy contingent of UK artists, but also plenty more from further afield, especially the USA. Stylistically we also cover plenty of ground, starting with a couple of recent tracks that push the boundaries of instrumental grime, like SD […]

This week we return to the fold of Sonar 2014 and recap some of the highlights, lowlights and tendencies from this year starting with Japanese all-girl group Nisennenmondai who delivered the standout show with their tight and edgy minimal dystopian techno thrashed out on guitar, bass and drums.

One of those old soul boys who are still doing it, Lee Fields, kicked off the show this week with a track from this new album out on Truth and Soul which paved the way nicely for some woefully short, yet super souful, beats from the one and only Madlib.

Keeping the words to the minimum today but hope you enjoy the electronic selection as the show explores the depths of machine soul and studio invention.

A nice mish mash of styles this week which all seemed to segue together quite pleasingly kicking off with some sunshine jazz funk vibes from Brazil, courtesy of MUV before Aisha Mars supplied some deep, instrumental, soul music from the great Bamalovesoul compiled On Deck 2 from the BBE crew, a great little collection of […]

Xtrngr from the excellent Mad Hop Bandcamp compilation got the show rolling in atmospheric style before «Secret Garden» from Snow Ghosts, a curve ball, from the normally club orientated Houndstooth label, kept the dreamy vibe but added some lovely vocals and paved the way for more of the same from the very talented Otti Albietz, fresh on BBE Records.

Another deep jazz cut from Yatha Bhuta Jazz Combo then stirred the show from its slumber and paved the way fro Titts‘ chopped and screwed bassline vibes, which led nicely into some submerged soul from Actress, closely followed by quality beats from Barcelona based Fitzroy North, snagged from his soon to come EP on Tiburoni.

A mixed bag this week both stylistically and tempo wise and that’s the way it should be really. F.S. Blumm kicked the show off in pastoral style with a taste of his lovely new album about to drop on one of our favourite labels, Pingipung.

A nice soulful selection in a roundabout sort of way this week, a week when Boards of Canada have been releasing their back catalogue for all those slow on the draw the first time around. The new Om Unit album on Civil Music is a pleasant surprise with it’s pleasing musicality and some nice vocal […]
